Landlords

“Changes to the Residential Tenancy Act requires insulation to be retrofitted to all rental properties. This is about providing a warm, dry, healthy living environment for tenants. It also increases property values and helps with home maintenance."

What does this mean?

1

All rental properties must have adequate ceiling and underfloor insulation upto current tenancy requirements.

2

Existing insulation must be dry, in reasonable condition, with no gaps, and meet minimum requirements.

3

All new tenancy agreements must include an insulation statement outlining the location, type, and condition of insulation in the property.

4

Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines of up to $4000.
